HOW MUCH WILL MY MOVE COST?
As a family run business, we understand the financial burden of moving home and the worries that this can bring. We have provided a cost-effective moving service for over 35 years – we have succeeded for many years because we have never been too expensive. We do not charge hourly rates, the price you are quoted is the complete cost of your move. You can feel safe knowing that there will be no hidden extra costs on the day. Our prices reflect some of the most competitive in the area. One of the main reasons we carry out a pre move survey is to find out your exact needs to ensure your removal quote is accurate. We can tailor your package to meet your needs and budget.
HOW CAN I PAY FOR MY MOVE?
Payment can be made a number of ways. You can pay by bank transfer or cheque one week before the date of your move to allow clearance. By prior arrangement, should you not have the facilities to pay by our preferred method of bank transfer, we can accept cash payment on the day of your move.

That’s easy – as soon as you have confirmed the date of entry to your new property give us a call on 01505 337 520. We will quickly assess your requirements and establish a time scale and costs, taking into account any special requirements.
DO YOU OFFER A FREE PRE-MOVE SURVEY?
Yes, pre-move surveys are free of charge, this gives us the opportunity to meet with you and find out your exact moving needs. A pre-move survey allows us to find out what materials we will need on moving day to ensure the movers have all the correct equipment needed for your move. Most importantly, a pre-move survey provides you with a time where you can ask questions and tell us exactly what your needs are. It allows you to meet with a member of the team and feel relaxed in knowing a friendly face who will be there on the day of your move.
HOW DO I CONFIRM MY BOOKING WITH DS CARRIERS?
After a removal survey is carried out we will then email you a detailed quotation, a copy can be posted to you on request. WHAT HAPPENS ON MOVING DAY?
For most moves, our removal team will arrive on the removal day between 8.30am – 9am. This gives our removal team time to prepare the vehicles and get your property ready to load up. However, our times are flexible. We understand that many families will still be working and will still have to do the school run, even on moving day. All you have to do, is allow our removal team access to your home – we will do the rest. Once your belongings have been safely loaded on to our vehicles for transit, we will ask you to check your home carefully to ensure everything has been packed. We will then take your belongings to storage or will meet you at your new property, ready to unload.
WHAT HAPPENS IF WE GET THE KEYS LATE? DO YOU CHARGE ME?
We understand that no matter how prepared you are, sometimes things don’t always go to plan. It is not unusual for there to be a delay on moving day. As part of our service, we offer ‘wait time’ free of charge. Should there be a delay in getting access to your new property, once your belongings are packed and loaded, our team will wait – free of charge – until 4pm at your new property.
What if there is a problem with access to my new home and I don’t get keys?
Should the unfortunate happen and you are unable to gain access to your new home, we will be on hand to provide support and help. Our team will help you to find the best solution for you. We can take your contents back to our secure depot for storage giving you peace of mind your belongings are safe and looked after for delivery another day. Once you’ve got access to your new home we will gladly deliver and carry on with your move. However, there may be another charge for delivering your goods.
WILL MY FURNITURE BE PROTECTED?
Yes, we use specialist covers for Sofas, TV’s, pictures, mattresses, and our surveyor will list which covers are required for your move. Also on the vehicles, we have hundreds of transit blankets for protection
HOW WILL MY CLOTHES BE PROTECTED?
We provide hanging wardrobe cartons to transport your hanging clothes from one property to another. These wardrobe cartons are allocated to each vehicle and cannot be left behind. The removal team are happy to assist you in transferring clothes into your wardrobes at your new home.
DO I HAVE TO EMPTY MY DRAWERS?
Yes, please empty all contents from drawers into boxes, this helps when trying to move furniture down stairs.
WHO PACKS MY HOUSE CONTENTS?
The most cost effective solution for you is packing your contents yourself. DS Carriers Ltd are happy to provide you with a moving kit. However, we fully appreciate that everyday demands can lead to a hectic lifestyle for many of our customers and DS Carriers Ltd are happy to offer a ‘Pack and Move’ service. As part of this service, our fully trained team will carefully pack your valuable possessions in preparation for your move, removing much of the stress and time involved in moving home.
I HAVE A NEW SOFA; IM WORRIED IT WILL GET DAMAGED IN THE MOVE
You don’t need to worry as we will protect all your sofas and chairs in strong covers which will totally encase them that will then be strapped down for ease of lifting. Not only will your upholstery stay unscratched it will also be free from finger marks. As well as sofa covers we also use mattress covers and dining furniture covers.
HOW WILL YOU PROTECT MY TV?
DS Carriers Ltd understand TV’S are among one of the most expensive items that are required to be moved. To ensure TV’S are moved safely, our team wrap your TV and seal it in our special designed TV carton that is brought on moving day. This ensures no damage will occur during transit, giving you that peace of mind that your TV is safe.
WILL YOU DISMANTLE MY FURNITURE
DS Carriers Ltd are happy to provide a dismantling and re-assembly service to make your move even more stress free. If you have selected this service it will be fully outlined in your quotation.
DO YOU USE AGENCY STAFF?
All of our staff are employed directly by our company and not via an agency.
CAN YOU MOVE MY PLANTS?
We are happy to move all plants and outdoor garden furniture, provided that they have been packed appropriately in preparation for your move. Please ensure that you let our team know that you are moving plants in advance of your move to allow the team to load the van appropriately.
DOES YOUR MOVING COMPANY SUPPLY PACKING MATERIALS AND CARDBOARD MOVING BOXES?
Yes, we can supply a full range of packaging materials, whether just cardboard moving boxes for storage or full moving kits for moving home. We can supply packaging materials for big or small moves and deliver to your door as and when you need. Please let us know at your pre-move survey and we will happily include packing materials in your quotation.
ARE YOU INSURED?
Yes, in addition to the required road risks, employers and public liability insurances, we also have removals-specific goods in transit insurance to cover the carriage of your possessions. Our standard quotation includes goods in transit insurance up to a certain value. Should you have rare, valuable items of a high value, please notify us in advance to allow for extra insurance provision. This can be discussed during your quotation survey.
